NEW YORK STATE HISTORY, IS AMERICA’S HISTORY

I LOVE NY’s Path Through History program showcases New York State’s fascinating history. As our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, we invite historic and heritage organizations across the state to submit events that explore the immense and vital role New York played in our country’s journey to independence and the subsequent 250 years of American history.

Events and exhibits highlighting revolutionary actions of New Yorkers, innovations of our best and brightest, unparalleled arts and culture, those who fought for equality, the beauty of our state’s natural history, the untold stories and more are welcome!

Approved events appear on I LOVE NY’s dedicated 250th Commemoration Calendar and are eligible for promotion within blogs, press releases, social posts and advertising.

SUBMISSION FORM TIPS

INVITE VISITORS TO EXPLORE OUR COLLECTIVE HISTORY

  • If your event is not taking place during PTH Weekend, select “no” from the first drop down.

  • If listed, select your site/organization from the Event Host drop down. If not, simply type your name in the following box as you would like it to appear.

  • For event category select 250Commemeration. Hold CTRL to select additional categories.

  • A website is required. Provide a link to a place where interested visitors can find more event information. This could be on your organization’s site, a Facebook page, municipal website, etc. Avoid linking to your homepage if event information is not easily accessible from there.

  • Click the Start field and use the calendar to select your event date. If your event spans multiple days use the appropriate selections to identify the end date.
    • For example, your event takes place July 3 - July 5 :
       • Select 7/3 from the calendar in the Start field  • Click Daily, select Every Day
       • Under Recurrence Range, click in the End on box and select 7/5

  • Multiple non-consecutive event dates can be added using the custom option. If you are unsure if you’ve entered your date information correctly include details in your description and we will make sure the calendar portion matches, or simply reach out!

  • If advanced registration is required be sure to select yes and provide the link or email to do so. We will add a clickable link into your description. 

  • Provide the location and address where the event is being held, not necessarily your organization’s address. Include any additional information (“Meet at the Welcome Center”) in your description.

  • At least one quality photo, horizontal preferred, is required for all submissions. Please do not submit photo collages or images with text / logos.

  • If you submission does not go through, be sure that you’ve completed all required fields and your description is within the acceptable character range. If issues persist—reach out for assistance!

  • The internal contact provided will receive an email once your event is approved (please allow up to 10 business days.) Contact us directly with any edits and additional information.
